The school day just got healthier!

Students can expect benefits from healthier and more nutritious food in school.  Thanks to the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act, major improvements are being made across the country to transform school food and promote better nutrition and reduce obesity.

Oldham County Students are offered healthy, tasty, and appealing choices.  Fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, zero trans fats, 1% and skim milk are just a few of the healthy items we menu.  Secondary students have the option of salad bars.  Several items are baked rather than fried.

The Oldham County School Nutrition department is a team of over 130 individuals dedicated to serving nutritious meals & providing nutritional education to it’s students.

We share the same goals, as you the Parents:

  • Well-balanced, nutritious meals
  • Creating healthy habits for life 
  • Encouraging physical activity

As a parent, you have the ability to make the school meal changes a positive and exciting experience for your child. Our meals have more whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Family Meals are Important  

A family that dines together stays together” is a phrase that I have heard for years. Having a meal with your children away from distractions such as the TV, video games and cell phones can help start those conversations that you would like to, or need to have with your children.
