FAQ Guide for Parents/Guardians
When Making the Choice for
Second Trimester Student Enrollment

Q: When will the Enrollment Change Form be available for parents to submit? How will it be sent?

A: The Enrollment Change Form will be available to all parents/guardians via email and will be posted on OCS Facebook Page. The form will be open from 8:00 am Monday, October 12 through 11:59 pm Sunday, November 1.

Q: Who needs to fill out the Enrollment Change Form?

A: Only those who wish to change their child’s enrollment will need to submit the form. If your child is remaining with their current enrollment, you do not need to fill out the form. The only two scenarios in which a parent/guardian will need to submit the Enrollment Change Form are as follows:

1) My child is currently enrolled in the Virtual Learning Academy for Trimester 1, but beginning with the 2nd trimester, I want my child to return to in-person learning.

2) My child is currently learning in-person, but beginning with the 2nd trimester, I want my child to be enrolled in the Virtual Learning Academy.

Q: When does the 2nd trimester begin?

A: The 2nd trimester begins Monday, November 23, 2020 and ends Friday, March 5, 2021.

Q: If I submit an Enrollment Change Form on October 12, but then change my mind before the November 1 deadline, can I submit another Enrollment Change Form?

A: No. In order for the school district to plan accordingly with enough time to prepare for the 2nd trimester, each submission will be the final choice of the parent for trimester 2. Please only submit the form after you make your final decision.

Q: If I choose to enroll my elementary child in VLA for the 2nd trimester, is he/she guaranteed to be with a teacher and students from my child’s assigned school?

A: No. While we have tried to place students with peers from their home school, it is possible your child will be placed in a grade-level class with students and/or a teacher from a different Oldham County elementary school.

Q: Why can’t the district make a decision on elementary A/B before parents have to make our child’s trimester 2 enrollment decision?

A: The district’s need to implement an A/B schedule at the elementary level is dependent upon the number of students scheduled to be enrolled for in-person learning on November 23. Therefore, we must have an accurate number of students planning to be in-person in order to make that decision.

Q: If I choose to change my elementary age child from VLA to in-person learning, but then the district decides to implement an A/B schedule, can I then change my child back to VLA?

A: No. The next opportunity for a parent to change their mind will be for trimester 3.
