For our youngest learners, the Oldham County Virtual Learning Academy (VLA) pairs a certified teacher with your child to help guide him or her through a standardized curriculum. Your child’s teacher will build a relationship with your child through a series of interactive online and offline lessons and activities. Students in K-5th grades will receive a hybrid of live (synchronous) and recorded (asynchronous) instruction in literacy and math according to their weekly learning schedule, as well as recorded mini-lessons or explained activities in the other core subjects. To further develop skills and concepts, your child’s teacher will compliment these standards aligned lessons with additional learning activities. Using the Seesaw App and/or Google Classroom, parents and students will share samples of their child’s written work with their Virtual Learning Academy Teacher.
All K-5 VLA students will be enrolled in 4 core classes each trimester and will have optional opportunities to participate in art and wellness experiences. Each trimester lasts 12 weeks.
