The Oldham County Virtual Learning Academy (VLA) is an engaging online learning environment for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. The VLA offers students an interactive online learning experience that is designed to capture their interest through a dynamic online learning platform with support from certified teachers at the elementary and secondary level. The VLA offers students the flexibility to complete classroom assignments from any computer platform and keeps parents informed about their student’s progress through an easy to navigate online portal.

Virtual Learning Academy enrollment is open to all Oldham County Schools students.
- The student’s enrollment will remain at his/her districted school.
- Students will be placed on trimester enrollments. When a student’s family chooses to enroll their child in the VLA, that decision must remain in place for at least one trimester. Students can return to their traditional home school at the end of any trimester.
- Trimester 1: Aug. 24th to Nov. 20th (enroll by Aug. 7th)
- Trimester 2: Nov. 23rd to March 5 (enroll by Nov. 1st)
- Trimester 3: March 8 to June 2nd (enroll by Feb. 12th)
To ensure that all students in the Virtual Learning Academy are successful, certificated teachers will be available to support students in the core subject areas. Students can sign-up for a time to work with the teacher as needed.

GIFTED AND TALENTED
Students who receive gifted and talented supports in the physical classroom will continue to receive appropriate supports and modifications in the Virtual Learning Academy in order to meet their needs in a virtual space.
Students with individualized education plans will continue to receive appropriate supports in the Virtual Learning Academy. Each student will have an ARC meeting before starting the Academy in order to ensure instructional minutes and appropriate accommodations and modifications tailored to meet their needs in a virtual space.
Students with a 504 plan will continue to receive appropriate supports in the Virtual Learning Academy. A 504 team will meet to look at appropriate accommodations and modifications to meet their needs in a virtual space.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS
Students who receive English Language Learner supports in the physical classroom will continue to receive appropriate supports and modifications in the Virtual Learning Academy in order to meet their needs in a virtual space.
9th to 12th grade students will have access to Advanced Placement classes through the Edgenuity platform. AP classes are year long courses. If students change enrollment from the VLA to the Traditional School model, they will have to complete their AP classes remotely. Students must purchase a textbook to complete each course.

Students enrolled in the VLA are permitted to participate in extracurricular activities sponsored by their home school. However, VLA students are not permitted to attend classes in-person at the Arvin Center or Arts Center (CAPAA) during the instructional day.
