Buckner Elementary School opened its doors on August 14, 1998. The faculty and administration at Buckner Elementary School believe that our goal is to develop literate, productive, responsible American citizens who retain curiosity and a love of learning. We acknowledge that Buckner Elementary School should help foster an understanding of the individual’s responsibility to self and others. We strive to help our children develop into responsible, life-long learners. We accomplish our goals with the help of an experienced professional staff and strong parental support. Our instructional program provides opportunities to develop each child’s emotional and physical skills as well as his or her academic abilities.  Therefore, we provide a rigorous academic program in a secure and nurturing environment.

Special Programs: Choice of full-day or half-day kindergarten; After-school/ Summer Care Enrichment Program for students K-5th grade; Individualized services for special education (K-5th Grade) and gifted/talented and Extended School Services (ESS)

Extra Curricular Activities:  Student Technology Club (5th Grade), Sign Language Club; Intramural Basketball (4th and 5thgrade), Cheerleading (4th and 5th grade), Performing Arts Club (P.A.C. – Drama and Chorus) (4th and 5th grade), Governor’s Cup/Academic Team, Buckner Art Guild (B.A.G.), Newscast Team, Cross Country (4th & 5th grade), and Intramural Volleyball (4th and 5th grade).

Technology Information: Buckner Elementary has a networked instructional computer system in all classrooms with access to Internet resources and a full range of research and instructional tools that meet state and national standards.  Each classroom is supported by an interactive technology classroom, integrating technology into daily learning. The Ben Estes Library Media Center features computerized circulation and card catalog.  A twelve-computer mini-lab in the library is available for individual or class use as well as a portable 30 laptop computer lab. An iPad initiative started in 2011 with 28 iPads in classrooms.
