Buckner Alternative High School was established in August 28, 1995.  The school was developed to provide educational opportunities for students who, for a variety of reasons, have not been successful in traditional school settings. The BAHS staff works to provide a student-centered educational environment by developing cooperative relationships based on mutual respect, setting high expectations, and individualizing programs to best meet student needs. BAHS serves students from North Oldham Middle School, Oldham County Middle School, South Oldham Middle School, East Oldham Middle School, North Oldham High School, Oldham County High School, and South Oldham High School.

BAHS Staff is comprised of professionals who have expressed the desire to work in a student-centered alternative setting. Each member of the staff works to provide a quality personalized educational experience for every student. Roles are designed to facilitate a systematic approach to programming and to best utilize the strengths of the individual. BAHS staff members work closely with each student, family, additional service providers and receiving school staff to prepare for successful transitions to traditional school placement, technical school, post-secondary educational settings or the work force.

BAHS Therapeutic Program is designed as a supportive component within the school setting.  Therapeutic services are determined based on student needs and may be delivered through a combination of individual, group or family formats. Collaboration and consultation with classroom staff and outpatient services providers is an integral component of the therapeutic program to maximize the benefit of all services provided to the student.

Technology Information: Fully networked computers in each classroom with instructional access to the Internet; students are expected to meet a variety of technology standards set for all Oldham County students.
