• Attention Parents of Kindergarten Students for the 2012-13 School Year:  Kindergarten Konversations will be May 14, 2012 at 6:30 PM.  It is important that both you and your incoming Kindergarten student attend this event.  Kindergarten Take Flight will be August 10, 2012 from 8:30 - 11:00.  There will be more information on this event sent home this summer.

• Invite Someone You Love to Lunch Days: We would love to have you visit our book fair during the week of April 2nd! There are wonderful books for kids and adults, educational games, and great gift ideas.   In conjunction with our Book Fair, our cafeteria will be hosting “Invite Someone You Love to Lunch”. See the following list for when your child may invite a special person to eat and shop with them. 

An invitation and more information will come home in today’s Tuesday folder.

• Camden Station Elementary Student Art Show: Encourage your child to participate in the Camden Station Elementary Student Art Show!  Students K-5 can enter up to two artworks of any medium (art material) into the show.  These can be artworks that the student made at home this year or in art class.  The student must fill out an entry form for each artwork that they enter.  These entry forms went home in the Take-home Tuesday folders a couple of weeks ago, but can also be found outside of the art room door.

Changed Due Date for Artworks:  Artworks are now due on April 16th (the Monday that we come back from Spring Break).

This art show is not judged.  This is a celebration of the artist in all of us!  The art show will be on May 1st (the night of the K/1 Musical).  Artwork will be on display through the following week and will then be returned to the student artists.

• SBDM School Council Election: The Camden Station PTA will hold elections for one parent member of the Camden Station Elementary SBDM School Council on April 25, 2012 at the following times: 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

The deadline to submit a nominee must be received with all required information by April 2nd, 2012 by 12:00 p.m. Return completed form to the Camden Station PTA, attention Julie Pate, PTA Secretary marked SBDM Election. See the attached nomination form for more details.

• Transformation Masks Created by 5^th Graders: Through their study of Native American art in 5^th grade, our Eagles have created “transformation masks,” which are sculpted out of poster board.  We are very proud of the hard work and effort they put into creating  3-D forms out of a 2-D medium (material) like poster board.   Their transformation masks are on display at the Oldham County Public Library Main Branch in La Grange!  Ms. Robertson’s friends and Ms. Pfeifer’s friends have their work on display from March 5 until March 16.  Ms. Garrett’s friends and Ms. Adams’ friends will have their work on display from March 19 until March 30.  Please, stop by the library to support our Eagles and view their work.  We are so proud to have their work displayed in the public!

• Eagle’s Nest Summer and Fall packets are ready! If you are interested in a summer program (and your student will attend Camden Station this fall) or after school care for this coming fall, please look to Eagle’s Nest! Our students will be Backpacking Around The World this summer! For more information please call Pat Maurer at 241-3411, or you may pick up a packet in the front office as well.

•Tennis Shoes for PE! We have had a lot of students forgetting to wear their tennis shoes to PE and Fitness Friday.  Remember your child must wear tennis shoes in order to participate safely in all of our activities!  Thank you for your support!  - Ms. Schomburg

•South Oldham Middle School will be having their annual cheer clinic March 24, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Packets may be picked up in the office or at SOMS.

• South Oldham Middle School cheer tryouts will be April 25, 26, and 27^th 3:45 to 5:30 PM. Anyone trying out must have a KHSAA sports physical and sports packet. Packets can be picked up in the office at SOMS or on the SOMS Athletic website.

• To celebrate National Nutrition Month, we’re holding a student essay contest:

What does ‘Get Your Plate in Shape’ mean to you?

We want to hear how students stay healthy and active with friends and family. This contest is open to all Oldham elementary students. Please turn all essays into the cafeteria by Friday, March 30^th. The School Nutrition department will be judging the essays and announcing the winner on Friday, April 6^th.

We’re looking for ways students incorporate healthy eating choices at home and school. We also want to know how you find fun ways to be active and healthy.  Also, why is it important to be healthy?

The winner of the essay contest will receive a FREE bicycle! See the attached flyer for more information.
